NYSC Sanctions 131 Corps Members in Seven States Over Miscondu
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) disciplined 131 corps members of the 2021 Batch B service year for various breaches of the NYSC bye-laws in different states, according to an official news report.

NYSC disciplinary actions were recorded in the following states:
- Ekiti State
- Gombe State
- Bayelsa State
- Akwa Ibom State
- Edo State
- Anambra State
- Bauchi State
Nature of Misconduct and Sanctions
Sanctions were applied based on violations of NYSC rules and misconduct during the service year. The penalties varied depending on the offence committed, such as:
🔹 Ekiti State
- 11 corps members were asked to repeat their service year for absconding from their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).
- 7 others had their service extended due to misconduct.
🔹 Gombe State
- 4 corps members received service extensions.
- 8 were declared absconders.
🔹 Bayelsa State
- 7 corps members had their service extended.
- 8 others were remobilised to start the service year again due to absconding.
🔹 Akwa Ibom State
- 9 corps members were ordered to repeat their service year for absconding.
- 8 others received various service extensions for misconduct.
🔹 Edo State
- 18 corps members had to repeat their service year for absconding.
- 4 others received extensions for other infractions.
🔹 Anambra State

About 42 corps members were sanctioned for defaulting on NYSC’s four cardinal programmes, with varying penalties including extensions or repeats of service.

5 corps members had their service extended for violations of scheme rules.
What This Means
NYSC’s sanctions reflect strict enforcement of the Scheme’s Bye-Laws, which serve to uphold discipline and ensure that corps members fulfil their duties — including proper attendance at their PPA, participation in Community Development Service (CDS) activities, and adherence to conduct rules throughout the service year.
Sanctions such as service extension and requiring repeat service are among the disciplinary measures the NYSC uses for major infractions.
