Details About Nigerian Society Of Engineers
The Nigerian Society of Engineers is the umbrella organization for the Engineering Profession in Nigeria. The Society supports high professional standards and ethical practices by providing well-structured programs and frequent interactions between the various cadres of membership.
A group of young Nigerian graduate engineers and students in the UK founded the organization on February 16, 1958, and the Society was launched at the Nigerian House in London. The NSE is listed as a corporation limited by guarantee with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
It was established in 1967 as a company limited by guarantee without share capital. On December 1st, 1998, the original Memorandum and Articles of Association were modified. Similar to some of its competitors in other professions, the Society has distinguished itself via forward-thinking and creative programs to become a platform for the technical advancement of both the nation and its citizens.

Careers and Employment Advice
The Society offers members career guidance on job placement and advancement. The group keeps track of individuals looking for work or looking to move jobs, and it also matches job openings with job listings on its website.
Courses/Workshops/Conference
The Society often offers members workshops and courses for their continued professional development. These workshops/courses are organized around the country by Divisions and Branches of the Society and the National Headquarters under the direction of the Professional Development Directorate.
Every year in the final week of November to December, the Society hosts the Engineering Conference, and every two years, an international conference. A communique released at the conclusion of the proceedings and current topics is used to select conference themes.
Liaison with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
The Society has a representative on COREN’s Council and works closely with the organization on all matters pertaining to the engineering field. These include Engineers’ compensation, Mandatory Continuing Professional Development, and Engineering Regulations Monitoring.
International Relations
Through its membership in the Commonwealth Engineers Council (CEC) and the World Federation of Engineering Organization, the Society speaks for Nigeria (WFEO). Additionally, the Society serves as the Federation of African Engineering Organization’s secretariat (FAEO).
Additionally, Branches and the Headquarters coordinate foreign industrial tours with the International Affairs unit at the Headquarters.

Membership Categories
A member of the society is expected to pay his dues and any other taxes that Council may impose on time and with commitment. All subscription payments are due on July 1st of each year.
A Member loses their membership or affiliation with the Society if their subscription is one year overdue.
Each member and affiliate has a responsibility to further the goals, impact, and interests of the Society to the best of their abilities.
