OOOUSUG ELECTIONS: ASPIRANT DRAGS OOUECO TO COURT
The Independent Electoral Commission (OOUECO) has been dragged before the Electoral Petition Commission (PECO) over the deliberate attempt to deprive Oduwaye Taiwo from participating in the forthcoming OOUSUG Election by the refusal to sell the Vice-president III form to him.
In a copy of the summons sighted by our news outfit, OOU Premium, Oduwaye Taiwo, through his counsel affirmed that Senator Kehinde Ayobami (A.K.A Soul) who holds the position of the OOU ECO Chairman; Senator Ademuyiwa Muslim, the OOU ECO SPEDU and the entire OOUECO by their actions have disenfranchised him of his rights as enshrined in *Section 2 (1) (i) OOUSUG CONSTITUTION 2014* (as amended) as a credible ordinary member of the Student Union Government.
The Counsel to the Petitioner, Victor Adegbite, affirmed that the respondents have been served with the court process electronically. He further asserted that publishing of court processes on social media under the law is permitted, when it appears the respondent is evading service, as laid down in the case of *Anderson Ndulue v Gloria Ibeh (2016)* and this amounts to a substituted service.
Meanwhile, in a phone call interview with the Coordinator of OOUPACI – Odusowo Oladipupo, he said “No one should be deliberately deprived of the opportunity to participate in an election. Every individuals should be allowed to contest, vote or be voted for, if they’re eligible according to Law. He further mentioned that he expects the OOUECO to duly comply with the law and be faithful in their duties in the forthcoming election.
