The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has announced the release of the postgraduate admission application form for the Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Applications are invited into the NNPC/Shell JV Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, University of Benin.

Available Postgraduate Programmes
Suitably qualified candidates can apply for the following programmes:

M.Sc. Integrated Petroleum Exploration and Evaluation Studies (Geology Option)

M.Sc. Integrated Petroleum Exploration and Evaluation Studies (Geophysics Option)

M.Sc. Integrated Petroleum Engineering and Production Studies
Target Candidates
The programmes are designed for:
-
highly motivated graduates seeking professional careers in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, and
-
practising professionals currently working in:
-
Exploration and Production (E & P) companies,
-
geoscience agencies, and
-
consulting firms and related organisations.

Programme Duration
The programmes are offered on a full-time basis for a period of 18 calendar months, which includes:
-
a mandatory six (6) months internship in an Exploration and Production company or other geoscience-related organisations and agencies, and
-
execution of a practical research project.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must possess any of the following qualifications:
-
A First Degree from a recognised university in:
-
Geology,
-
Geophysics, or
-
Petroleum Engineering
with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division.

OR
-
A First Degree in any other relevant field in the Physical Sciences or Engineering with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division.
In addition, all candidates are required to submit:

a brief description (not more than one page) of their:
-
work experience,
-
current job responsibilities, and
-
how the training will add value to their career.

The programme fees are described as competitive and commensurate with the quality of training delivered.
