Ekiti State University, EKSU Announces Resumption of Academic Activities
Stakeholders at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, including the Vice Chancellor and other Principal Officers, Provosts, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, Professors, and Officers on grade level 14 and above, convened on Sunday, August 21, 2026, to review the University’s situation.
Stakeholders emphasised the socioeconomic repercussions of the present strike action by the University’s staff unions on other stakeholders (parents, students, alumni, and staff), as well as the parents’ appeal. It was also said that the strike is having a negative impact not only on the students but also on the University. These are some examples:
- excessive extension of the academic calendar and student stay on campus;
- a low level of support from candidates seeking admission to the University;
- Staff’s incapacity to meet their financial obligations;
- inability to pay employee salaries, among other things.
Participants at the meeting deliberated extensively on the issue and determined that, in the interest of our teeming student population, their parents, and the University’s survival, it has become imperative for all members of staff currently on strike in the University to resume normal official activities.
As a result, the stakeholders unanimously agreed that the University Management should reopen the university as soon as possible to resume academic activities.
As a result, all newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session should return to campus on Monday, August 29, 2026, for screening, registration, and orientation
